This is a movie that was pretty much made by and for the male gaze and rape culture. With few exceptions (Shaun's mother, maybe?), women are treated as nothing more than sexual objects. And don't even get me started on the denouement (obsessing over a girl who wants nothing to do with you is so romantic!).
In the most egregious example, he places his penis in a bag of popcorn and laughs when his date accidentally grabs him instead of the food she expected. Otherwise the women in this film don't interact with one another at all. The whole exchange takes but a second or two. At a party, Sharon is introduced to Ben's ex Suzy, as well as his best friend's date, whose name I forget (she does have a name though, which I distinctly remember because Shaun does not hardy har har!).
